National Employment Council (NEC) for Medical and Allied Industry is a Statutory Board formed in accordance with the Labour Act (28:01), having been formed by the Medical Professions and Allied Workers Union of Zimbabwe (MPAWUZ) and the Medical and Allied Employers Association (MAEAZ). It was registered on the 28th August 2012. Registration of the NEC was just spearheaded by PHAZ, before being taken over and concluded by MAEAZ

After registration of the NEC, an All Stakeholders Meeting was held on the 10th of December 2012 and made resolutions leading to the opening of the NEC offices, hiring of the secretariat and crafting of the CBA. The NEC opened its offices in January 2013 with the blessings of the All Stakeholders Meeting Resolutions.
